The Flexflight series from Firewire incorporates Future Shapes Technology, an EPS core, high density skin and parabolic balsa rails, producing an ultra lightweight, durable longboard with the same superior performance characteristics made famous by Firewire's shortboards. The Flexflight eliminates the chatter normally associated with a long surfboard, giving you a smooth and easy ride. Also the Flexflight weighs in much less than similar PU boards shapes.
weak sauceBy Benny in VA on 11/05/2009
While the Firewire Flexflight boards are fun to ride with their light weight and flex, they are not nearly as strong as a typical stringer longboard. The parabolic balsa stringer gives the board flex when you drop into a bottom turn and allows you to explode back out of it as it flexes. This factor allows the board to maintain speed instead of bogging down. However, the parabolic stringer design does not give the board much strength. The Flexflight Series are basically longboards designed to perform like shortboards. They are fun for riding down the line and making some turns, but don't expect to walk out on the nose of this board without the tail flopping out of the water like a whale. Also, don't ride them in waves over head high unless you want them to snap in half, way beyond repair. 2 thumbs down for the price.
