Surf companies tend to come from one place, Australia and Quiksilver is no different. Quiksilver was established by a group of surfers who wanted to build a better boardshort. Alan Green and his hippie friends were on a mission to create a more technical and longer lasting board short. They purchased Velcro flies from a wetsuit company and started using them rather than the standard zip fly. This led to more longevity and greater comfort. From there, they applied their methods to all aspects of surf lifestyle. Now Quiksilver is a surf market leader for all categories including lifestyle wear, clothing accessories, wetsuits, snowboarding outerwear, and of course boardshorts.
