O’Neill wetsuits was founded in a garage in San Francisco back in the 1950’s by three brothers. Jack, Bob, and Bill O’Neill had opened up a surf shop near their favorite bodysurfing break. Their goal was to create a modern-day surf shop where a surfer could get everything they were looking for instead of just surfboards. This led them into selling wetsuits and they quickly started producing their own wetsuits. Since O'Neill were early pioneers of wetsuit development their designs were new and exciting as well as coining names like the spring suit, long john and the short john. From there, they expanded into everything from surfboards, board bags, swimsuits, clothing and sandals. O’Neill has always been a staple in the surf industry and continues to drive forward and create great wetsuits and clothing.
