Jack’s Surfboards is looking to gather up some vintage Jack’s items. If any of you out there have any old Jack’s Surfboards T’s, Boards, Ads or anything Jack’s from the 50’s, 60’s, or 70’s we are interested in taking it off your hands. Epic surf hit Southern California in time for the last three days of competition. The swell peaked on Saturday morning with 20 foot faces rolling through. The heavy hitters from the WCT were in contention amongst other great surfers. Brett Simpson was the lone HB local still left in the later rounds. His knowledge of the break, ability to read the water and flat out awesome surfing catapulted him through to the finals against Mick Fanning. It was a great battle between the two surfers in front of record crowds. When it was all finished, Simpson was the $100,000 man. We couldn’t have asked for better weather and surf this past weekend, it was unreal. Here’s a shot of Brett just coming out of the water as the new US Open champ. Congrats!
Tomorrow afternoon at 5 we’ll be having the crew from Dwindle and Globe at the Garage in the HB store signing everything you want and bring. You’ll be able to check out your favorite athletes like Rodney Mullen, Jose Rojo, Mark Appleyard, James Craig, Morgan Smith and Ronnie Creager. These guys kill it so you should swing by and get their John Hancock on some of product!
This weekend we’ve got a ton of athletes that will be coming through the shop in between their heats to sign whatever you’ve got. If you’re around town, definitely swing by and hit up your favorite athlete’s to sign your stuff. Here’s the schedule of when the teams will be at the shop. Lines will be moving quickly cause this isn’t our first rodeo, so don’t worry about having to wait a while. Starts Thursday with a few and ends Sunday.

It’s mid-week for the 2009 US Open of surfing in Huntington and we’ve got a lot planned for the weekend. One of the events that we’re planning with O’neill is hourly giveaways of their Hyperfreak boardshorts. The Ezekiel Girls will be at the Jack’s Girl’s Store (Main Street, Huntington) this Thursday, July 23rd for their “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’” event. Head on down by 1:00 P.M. to listen to the sonic stylings of Dr. OC2PUS, a Michael Jackson Tribute, and possibly go home with somethin’ for nothin’! Beverages are provided by PRE, so drink up, shake your booty, and possibly get some free gear!
Madsteez, Ween and Nike 6.0 have put together a video all around the release of the Braata shoe they created. The shoes are available to ship starting on the 24th of July but you can pre-order them now. They are amazing and will be going quickly. Check out the video.

Thursday July 23rd at 10 am will mark this years induction ceremony into the surfing walk of fame in Huntington Beach. This year’s group of inductees includes Fred Hemmings, Mark Martinson, Wendy Botha, Duke Boyd and Jackie Baxter. Come check out these stars of the surfing world be honored by getting their granite stone added to the walk of fame and help us celebrate 50 years of the Huntington Pier. After the ceremony the inductees will be joining other select honorees at a luncheon on the other side of PCH. See you there!
This Friday Billabong is throwing an event at Jack’s called “Aloha Friday.” This will be from 4-5 Friday afternoon at the Huntington Beach store. Billabong pro’s Andy Irons and Donavon Frankenreiter will be hanging out and saying hello to everyone. They’ll be working the store, so go you can go in and quiz them about their product knowledge for all the Billabong Product. We’ll also be holding some Billabong specific sales contests and then heading over to the Hyatt for the Donavon show which is starting at 7. With all this stuff going on, why would you want to be anywhere else?
